MEGARA MOS Robots, Focal Plane & Filter Wheel

AVS has designed, manufactured, integrated and tested all fibre positioners for MEGARA Fibre MOS. The multi-object spectrograph (MOS) is composed by 20.1mm diameter 100 positioners. Positioning is performed combining 2 rotations. The interpolation of R1/R2 allows covering 423 mm2 assigned to each actuator with a ±25μm positioning accuracy.
AVS has also designed all the electronics necessary for the MEGARA control system, including the source box, cabling and control electronics for all MOS positioner motions.
