The main laser equipment of CLPU is VEGA. This laser customized by Amplitude Technologies is able to reach a Petawatt peak power. Nevertheless, it is a unique laser system because it has two outputs more: 20 terawatts (VEGA-1) and 200 terawatts (VEGA-2).
VEGA-1
Supply, delivery and installation of a transport system of the petawatt peak power laser. Six high performance mirrors mounts on high precision gimbal mounts, optical stations and vacuum system.
- Four gimbal mirrors mounts and one off-axis parabola (OAP) mount for beam transportation. Tip tilt, XYZ translation, repeatability <1.2um/arcsec, no retrodiffusion, no activation, no induced deformation on the optics.
- Metrology folding mirror gimbal mount with its insertion mechanics in order to introduce the mirror into the beam path when in metrology configuration. Tip tilt, XYZ translation, repeatability <1.2um/arcsec, no retrodiffusion, no activation, no induced deformation on the optics.
- Beam dumper folding mirror frame and insertion mechanics in order to introduce the mirror into the beam path when in safety position. no retrodiffusion, no activation.
- Optical stations: granite base to maximize stability of the optical elements, adjustable in XYZ, breadboard in vacuum, decoupled from vacuum system.
- Vacuum chambers, pumping system, pressure <5E-6mbar, UHV RGA requested to avoid contamination in the optics.
VEGA-2
Design, supply, delivery and installation of a deviation system from the Petawatt LASER beam to the metrology table with an incorporated security system. Six high performance mirrors mounts on high precision gimbal mounts separated 22 m in total with all their ancillary equipment:
- Four flat mirrors and one off-axis parabola (OAP) for beam transportation. Specified in order to obtain the following beam parameters at the target position.
- Beam dumper including folding mirror, Brewster window (600 x 300 mm optical quality window) and a dump. The concept has been developed and dimensioned by AVS.
