ORBITA IN-ORBIT DIAGNOSTICS FOR EP THRUSTERS

ORBITA is a new diagnostic device that will measure the performance of ion thrusters in orbit.

ORBITA is a diagnostic tool that is integrated with the propulsion system on-board a spacecraft to perform in-orbit measurements of high power thrusters. Advantages of this on-board diagnostic capability include the provision of real-time feedback on thruster performance during flight, enabling fine-tuning of thruster operations and ion engine characterisation for EP providers. It also enhances mission capabilities by improving life expectancy and performance on exploration or interplanetary missions.
