ZERO-G Validation in Parabolic Flight
2015 - 2016 | ESA
Validation of Sampling Tool Mechanism in Zero-G conditions
For the first time in Europe, AVS performed validation of a Sampling Tool mechanism for low gravity bodies under Zero-G conditions. This step was key in the demonstration of the functionality of such system in low gravity bodies.
Completly authomatic test rig was developed and the restringent requirements specified by NOVASPACE were fullfiled to get the experiment on-board the Zero-G Aeroplane. The test served to increase the knowledge of the behavior of the regolith deposited in the surface of the Moon, asteroids and satellites.
This technology is a building block in Science and Exploration as Sample Return missions and ISRU missions.
