IFMIF SLITS High Power Beam Interceptive Slits
2014 | CIEMAT - F4E
Detail design, manufacturing, supply of the breadboard of the collimation slits emittance measurement for LIPAc accelerator of CIEMAT.
These high power Beam Interceptive Slits are placed at the exit of the Medium Energy Beam Transport (MEBT) section as well as at the exit of the first Superconducting RF (SRF) linac (9MeV, 125mA peak, DC:0.01) of the IFMIF-EVEDA, and are used to measure the emittance of the ion beam by profile scans. These slits are water-cooled and work under UHV conditions (leak rate 2x10-11Pa.m3/s).
Location in a Diagnostic Plate. Beam locations:
- At the exit of the MEBT (5 MeV, 125 mA peak, DC:0.01)
- At the exit of the first Superconducting SRF linac (9 MeV, 125 mA peak, DC:0.01)
The IFMIF-EVEDA project is the validation activities phase and the engineering design for IFMIF. The IFMIF-EVEDA is considered a satellite experiment of ITER and is included in the “Broader Approach to Fusion” project between Europe and Japan.
The collimating slit is a necessary diagnostic system in order to obtain the emittance value of the deuteron and hydrogen beam.
