SAFETY SHUTTER BREMSSTRAHLUNG SAFETY SHUTTER

CHESS

This bremsstrahlung safety shutter was developed for the F-line at Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source (CHESS), based on the existing A-Line design.

The adapted design considers the larger beam size and features a larger tungsten profile, an enlarged actuator and a bigger chamber. The position of the limit switches is adjustable in this improved version. The design is “safe by default”, i.e. failure of the actuator or disconnection of either electrical or compressed air supplies result in shutter closure.
